Eportfolio 3 CAGD 250
For the Zbrush core mini capstone assignment we had to sculpt a humanoid bust. Then we had to render a few still images in Maya along with a whole 360 turnaround of the bust. I actually used a bust character seen at Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion.I sculpted one of the 5 marble busts in the graveyard. The project was really difficult at the beginning. I used lots of youtube videos to get it to a respectable point. Then I explored on my own and edited up the way I liked it out the most. I also had a reference photo of the character and tried to make it look as similar as possible. For me the neck was difficult but i used clay build up to start it out then the move tool. The bust plate design was actually pretty easy for me to sculpt with some slashes and claybuild up and also using the inflate tool. The ears were difficult to do and I could not get down with any sculpting knowledge I had so I used the preset ears and just fixed them up to my liking. The eyes, nose and mouth were all really easy for me to figure out. The front of the face was easier than expected. The cheekbones dimples and all the extra details on the face were built using the clay build up slash and the smooth tool. So all in all my bust character came out well with only one major set back and it was the ears. The second part of the assignment in Maya we had to use one of the lighted render layers and render a few still images and a 360 turn around. The still images were very easy to render. I got that done quickly. The rendering process for the 360 turn around took some time. I had forgot to switch my preferences to legacy render. Then I used batch render instead of render sequence. The last problem I encountered was I was rendering all the AOVS. The reason is that I forgot to uncheck the render all. Once I did that I got all 300 frames as a beauty shot for my 360 turnaround. The project was fun and I really enjoyed getting into the Zbrush core mini and plan to continue with it!
My first still rendered image of the bust.
